The old adage tells us that if something is just too good to be true then it probably is. So it was with the free file sharing system Ares Destiny that I tried out recently. I’d heard mixed reviews and just wanted to give it a test run. It’s free so I thought that it wouldn’t hurt to try. How wrong I was: it hurt a lot. First off the Ares Destinysoftware is nothing special. There is nothing particularly wrong with it either: it is just mid range stuff that is easily bettered by searching around. This didn’t surprise me a great deal since Ares Destiny is relatively new to the market and I didn’t expect them to get it spot on first time around. The big surprise – and it is not one of those nice surprises like you would expect on a birthday or at Christmas – is that during installation (which was, unsurprisingly in hindsight, pretty much an automatic affair) it had managed to squeeze Dealio onto my computer. Dealio is spyware, pure and simple, and unless you really like popups every few minutes it will get annoying very, very soon. As a parting shot, it turns out that Dealio is pretty much impossible to get rid of. Steer well clear of Ares Destiny!

Are you finding it difficult to decide which Peer-2-Peer client best suits your needs? At icomparer.com we provide you with “real people” reviews and opinions on just about every popular Peer-2-Peer client available on the market. Each review describes the software in detail to give you a good impression of the functionality the software provides and how easy it is to use – and most important of all, if you will find what you are looking for in the network it connects to! Each review contains an editor’s opinion, statistics, screenshots of the software and user reviews.

This web site, along with pear-2-pear.com explains in detail all the information you need on Peer-2-Peer clients, Peer-2-Peer networks, file sharing and legal information to make sure that you share files legally.

So what do you look for in a P2P client? Well most important of all is what network, or networks that they connect you to. Basically, the more shared files available to you, the more likely you are to find what you want. The second most important factor is the P2P Graphical User Interface, or GUI. Here it is important that the GUI allows you to perform multiple searches and multiple downloads simultaneously without hogging your bandwidth or CPU so that it doesn’t allow you to carry on using your PC or surf the Internet. A P2P download client should work in the background for you while it is searching or downloading.

Watch out! Some P2P clients claim to have faster download speeds than others i.e. up to 300 times faster than…. From almost all of the P2P clients we have reviewed, they all have about the same download speeds. So the only factor that really affects download speeds is the speed of your internet connection and the speed of the Internet connection of the person(s) you are downloading the file(s) from. Most clients allow downloading from multiple users and this can dramatically increase the time a download takes.

Another gotcha, or at least selling point for the providers of P2P clients is that they say they specialise in a certain media type. We believe this is really a selling point as they are all connected to the same file sharing network, which contain billions of different types of media.

Even though Peer-2-Peer clients say they specialise in music, for example, you should still find movies, games, software and other files on the network. Generally, a high quality song can be downloaded within 2 minutes (with a DSL connection and downloading from one user) and movies can be downloaded anywhere between 20 minutes and up to 2 hours – this obviously depends on the number of users that you are currently downloading from, the length of the movie and the internet connection type.

If you want to see a great range of different P2P clients, read our reviews, see what other users have to say about them and see screenshots of the software then go to www.icomparer.com.
